Getting started: a tour of the Online PS interface
Online PS opens with a blank canvas. The layout is close to a desktop image editor and has five areas.
1. Menu bar
The top row holds the menus: File, Edit, View, Image, Layer, Effects, Tools. Most features start here, for example "File → Open", "Image → Resize" or "Effects → Common Filters → Gaussian Blur".
2. Tool options bar
The row under the menus shows the logo on the left and the options of the current tool on the right. With the brush it shows the brush size; with the text tool it shows font, size and color. Pick another tool and the bar changes with it.
3. Toolbox
The column of icons on the left holds the tools: select object, selection, brush, pencil, color picker, eraser, magic eraser, fill, shapes, text, gradient, clone, crop, blur, sharpen and more. Hover over an icon to see its name.
4. Canvas
The image you are editing sits in the middle. Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom; "View → Zoom → Fit Window" makes the whole image fit.
5. Side panels
From top to bottom on the right:
- Preview: a thumbnail of the whole image; drag inside it to move around when zoomed in;
- Colors: the color used by the brush, text and fill;
- Information: image size and mouse position;
- Layer details: position, size, rotation and opacity of the current layer;
- Layers: every layer, with show/hide and ordering.
Undo
Made a mistake? Press Ctrl + Z (⌘ + Z on a Mac) or click the undo button at the right end of the tool options bar. "Edit → Redo" brings an undone step back.
Language
The 中文 / English button at the bottom of the page switches the whole interface; "Tools → Language" in the editor does the same.
Next: Opening and exporting images.
