Adding text to an image: font, size, color and outline
Adding text
- Pick the Text tool in the toolbox (the T icon);
- Click on the canvas (or drag out a text box);
- Type; press Enter for a new line;
- When you're done, switch to the Select object tool (the first arrow in the toolbox) to stop editing.
With the text tool active, clicking an empty spot starts another piece of text, so switch tools to finish.
Each piece of text is its own layer and can be edited again at any time.
Styling
With a text layer selected, the tool options bar offers:
- Font: common fonts are built in; Chinese text falls back to your system fonts;
- Size: the font size;
- Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough: the matching icon buttons;
- Fill: the text color;
- Stroke color and stroke size: an outline around the letters; white text with a black outline stays readable on light backgrounds.
To change existing text, click it with the text tool and edit.
Moving and resizing
With the Select object tool, drag the text to move it and drag its corners to resize the box. You can also type exact X and Y positions in Layer details, or a rotation angle for a slanted watermark.
A see-through watermark
- Write the watermark text;
- Set Opacity in Layer details to 30–50;
- Move it to a corner and export.
